Who we are

Layer Studio is made by Modular Toy. You can reach us about anything on this page at hello@modulartoy.cc.

Your pictures and projects

When you open a picture or a set of layers, Layer Studio reads it on your device. Splitting it into sheets, finding the things in it and working out what is in front all happen on your device too. Your pictures are not sent anywhere.

So that you can carry on where you left off, the project you are working on is kept on your device, in the app’s own storage. Nobody else can see it. Starting a new project replaces it, and removing the app deletes it.

The camera

If you choose to take a photo to start from, the app asks for the camera. The photo is used only as the picture you are working on, and stays on your device like any other.

What goes over the internet

Almost everything works without a connection. The exception is the first time you use Split by depth or Split by colour: to do that, the app downloads two models that look at pictures, about 55 MB, from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). The software that runs them is part of the app itself.

This is an ordinary download, like opening a web page. Hugging Face sees the request as any website would: your internet (IP) address and the kind of device asking. Its own privacy policy applies to it. No picture, project or anything you made is sent with it. Once downloaded, the models are kept on your device and the download is not repeated.

Files you export

When you export your sheets, the files go where you send them: on a phone or tablet, the share sheet, where you choose the app or place. Layer Studio does not keep a copy anywhere else.

Children

Layer Studio collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this ever changes, this page will say so, with a new date at the top, before the app does anything different.
